About SIPSorcery
SIPSorcery is a SIP aggregator service. It lets you bring together and manage all your SIP resources in one place. The two it mainly handles are SIP devices — ATAs and IP phones — and SIP provider accounts.
It solves a problem VoIP users hit early: an ATA with fewer lines than the number of provider accounts they hold. Connect a device to SIPSorcery once and it can place calls through an unlimited number of providers.
Where it came from
The project started in 2006, out of a feature request for third party SIP registrations from customers of an Irish VoIP provider called Blue Face. It was called My SIP Switch at first and was renamed to SIPSorcery in 2009.
It has been developed as an open source project throughout, and has tended towards the more experimental end of what a SIP stack can do — which is not usually possible when running a commercial VoIP service.
What it does not do
SIPSorcery provides no PSTN origination or termination. It does not sell numbers, sell minutes, or carry your audio. It handles signalling and gets out of the way; the FAQ covers the rest.
